Sarah Owen, CBCC-KA, CPDT-KA is a trainer and behavior consultant with Pet Harmony. Her passion is helping people recognize the motivating and maintaining contingencies in their dogs’ behavior and working together to implement lasting behavior-change plans.
Sarah began her professional career in dog training as a service dog trainer in southern Oregon before moving to Seattle to join Ahimsa Dog Training. She also worked in marketing for Fenzi Dog Sports Academy and has titled her own dogs in Rally Obedience and as trick dogs and therapy dogs. At Ahimsa, Sarah honed her puppy development skills and began to learn about how to best assist dogs that struggled with reactivity or aggression, over-arousal, and fear.
In 2021, Sarah was accepted into a graduate program in Behavior Analysis at the University of North Texas, where she is studying animal behavior under the advisement of Dr. Jesús Rosales-Ruiz. Rosales-Ruiz is a renowned behaviorist, who continues to refine dog aggression protocols. Sarah earned her undergraduate degree in journalism from Arizona State University and worked as a newspaper reporter and editor before transitioning into the science of animal behavior.
Sarah joined Pet Harmony in 2022. She is a Certified Behavior Consultant for Canines – Knowledge Assessed (CBCC-KA) and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers.
